ORIGINAL : THE ADVENTURES OF NASRUDDEEN ADOPTION DESIGN & DIRECTION : MANJUNATHA L BADIGERA
About the play:
“Khwaja Nasruddin” – perhaps there’s no country in this world where this name hasn’t been heard. There’s evidence to prove that he lived historically, yet it’s shrouded in ambiguity. According to Arabian Islamic folklore, he’s a unique character who embodies foolishness, intelligence, kindness, and humanity, always accompanied by his faithful donkey.
This play from Samashti is based on the book “The Adventures of Nasruddin”. So far, numerous films and series have been made about him worldwide in various languages, but this is the first attempt to holistically portray him in Kannada.
The reason is that his character, which challenges fanaticism in the name of religion and speaks out against oppressive systems while being humane, is worthy of laughter. The present play also attempts to portray several episodes from his life journey interlaced with humorous situations.
